How to Get There +
Traveling to the HYROX Cape Town 2026 Venue:
By Air:
- Cape Town International Airport (CPT): This is the primary airport serving the city and is located approximately 20-25 minutes (18-22 km) drive from the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC).
- Transport from Airport to Venue:
- Taxis/Ride-sharing: Uber and other ride-sharing services are readily available at the airport and offer a convenient and cost-effective way to reach the CTICC. Standard metered taxis are also an option.
- Airport Shuttle: Several shuttle services operate from the airport to hotels and major city areas, including the CBD. You can pre-book these online.
By Road/Rail:
- Cape Town is well-connected by major highways. If arriving by car, follow signs towards the city centre and the CTICC.
- There isn't a major national train station directly connecting to Cape Town from other South African cities in the same way as some European countries. Most long-distance travel into Cape Town is typically done by air.
City Guide: Cape Town +
Expected weather in April: 14-23°C (57-73°F), 70-85% humidity
Cape Town, a vibrant metropolis nestled between majestic Table Mountain and the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, offers an unforgettable experience for visiting HYROX athletes. The city seamlessly blends natural beauty with a rich cultural tapestry, making it an ideal destination to combine your race goals with exploration.
For accommodation, consider areas around the Convention Square, such as the CBD (Central Business District) or the Waterfront. These locations offer convenient access to the CTICC and a wide range of hotels, from luxury to budget-friendly options. The V&A Waterfront, in particular, is a hub of activity with shops, restaurants, and entertainment, all within walking distance or a short taxi ride from the venue.
When it comes to dining, Cape Town's culinary scene is world-renowned. Explore the diverse offerings from fresh seafood at the Waterfront to innovative cuisine in Bree Street and Kloof Street. Don't miss out on trying local delicacies and South African wines, which are exceptional. For a quick and satisfying meal, explore the numerous cafés and eateries scattered throughout the city.
Getting around Cape Town is relatively straightforward. MyCiTi bus routes cover many key areas, and ride-sharing services like Uber are readily available and affordable. Taxis are also an option. While driving yourself is possible, parking can be challenging in the CBD. Remember that South Africa uses the South African Rand (ZAR) as its currency, and English is widely spoken, though several other languages are also official. Tipping is customary, generally around 10-15% for good service in restaurants and for tour guides. As with any major city, be mindful of your surroundings and keep valuables secure, especially at night.

What your training plan covers
A HYROX race demands more than just running or lifting. Our training plans balance three types of work so you arrive race-ready for every lap and every station.
Pure Running
Running makes up more than 50% of a HYROX race. We build your aerobic base and pacing strategy so you can hold a strong pace across all 8 km of running.
Functional Station Training
Targeted strength and conditioning for the 8 HYROX stations. Sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmers carry, sandbag lunges, wall balls, and SkiErg.
Compromised Running
The true separator in HYROX. We program running intervals on fatigued legs to simulate the demands of running immediately after completing a station.
"I was skeptical about another fitness app, but TrainRox is different. It's built specifically for HYROX, not adapted from generic CrossFit templates."
