It has been a busy week in the hybrid fitness world with significant corporate moves and a new reward structure for those fueling the events on the ground. We are also looking back at a massive weekend of racing in Australia as the 2026/27 HYROX season continues to gain momentum. |
News & UpdatesRumors regarding the ownership structure of HYROX have been confirmed. Hybrid Fitness Media reports that Infront, the agency that acquired a majority stake in October 2021, is selling its position. Founders Christian Toetzke and Moritz Fürste are set to increase their stake from 40% to 51%, maintaining control of the business rather than exiting. The deal is valued between $700 million and $1 billion, with the founders reinvesting and securing loans to reach a majority. An incoming investor group will hold the remaining 49%, though the specific identity of this group remains unconfirmed despite speculation linking the firm L Catterton to the deal. The transaction is expected to close in early September. Via Hybrid Fitness Media. New reward tiers for volunteer shifts have been announced for the UK and Ireland. Each shift is eight hours long, and rewards scale based on the total number of shifts completed. One shift grants a 50% race code with early access, two shifts earn a 100% race code, and three shifts add a 75 Euro HYROX World merch voucher. The benefits increase up to six shifts, which provides two 100% race codes and a 175 Euro merch voucher. It is currently unclear if the UK and Ireland will adopt the policy used in the USA and Canada, where specific roles are credited as two shifts for a single eight hour stint. @uk.hxr is tracking the situation and will provide updates as they become available. COMMUNITY How well do you actually know the HYROX rulebook?Ten questions on the rules, the movement standards and race day, picked for the division you actually race. Two minutes. Every answer names its source, down to the rulebook section, so the ones you get wrong are the ones worth having. Two from the bank. You leave the sled push through the IN arch because it is closer: 2 minutes, no warning, and no judge to argue with, because your chip logged it. Your trailing knee stops touching the ground on the sandbag lunges: a warning first, then 15 seconds every time after that. When your age group comes down to seconds, two minutes is not a rounding error. Finish the ten and the scorecard is yours to send to whoever you race with. |
